One of my dearest friends was visiting from LA this weekend and on Saturday night we made plans to go to her friend's gallery exhibit in Chelsea. As soon as I walked into the gallery I bumped into my friend John and my friend Poupak. What a treat! Galleries are the place to be on Saturday nights, party people!

You guys have to check out the show (my friend John told me that these things are called shows) (can you tell I am so cultured?) (they give out free booze). The artist Allison Schulnik does some amazing paintings that almost look like sculptures. Here's one of the pieces:
Afterwards, we headed downtown for dinner at Pulino's. This is a Keith McNally establishment that almost looks like a parody of a Keith McNally establishment. Stained mirrors, communal washroom, tiled floors. And just like every McNally restaurant, it's a great place for people watching (which is just another way to say "it's too loud to talk to people).
And while I was in the communal washroom, my friends were so sweet and ordered me a birthday cake!
(Yes, my birthday is coming up.)
(If you see me crying tears of utter anguish this week you'll know why.)
