I decided that on days I feel really crappy, I'm going to force myself to find something positive about it. I know I sound like someone who reads Real Simple magazine but, hey, I have a fever and all I ate today was a banana and a buttered roll (I love eating buttered rolls for breakfast--I'm like your aunt from New Jersey!)
Anyway, on this gray, cold day, these were the things made me oh so happy.
1. The posh, British guy who works at the coffee shop near my office
After having a rough start to my day, I went to my favorite lunch place near work and started crying INSIDE of it like a crazy woman. Why do I love crying in public so much??? Anyway, I ordered a cup of tea and a banana and the posh, British guy who works there said, in a very flat, American accent "You want a Ba-naaaaa-na". And we just started laughing about the way Americans pronounce banana. Kinda like when my French friends make fun of me for the way I pronounce Montreal. Anyway, it was a small, stupid thing and for a brief moment I kinda forgot what I was upset about. Thanks posh, British guy!
2. Crying in my friend's office and making his co-worker uncomfortable
Okay, this is part two in the "Jiji loves crying in public places" series. So I'm fortunate enough to have a good friend work near me so I dropped by his office under the guise of saying hello but as soon as he asked me if everything is okay, I just started BAWLING. And his poor co-worker had to stare at his computer screen and pretend to read Huffington Post or whatever the crap people do when they have a BAWLING woman in their office. Why did this make me smile? I don't know, I love making people uncomfortable?
Oh, and my friend gave me two vitamin cs and a napkin to cry with. That's friendship!
3. Emailing w/friends and commiserating about the crazy people in our lives.
4. Getting a goodbye kiss from my boo as I headed off to work <3 <3 <3
5. And of course this video by the hilarious Eliot and Ilana Glazer. I once did a storytelling show w/Eliot Glazer and he is even funnier in person and has an awesome tattoo of Bea Arthur's face on his arm. Now that's jinius!

There is nothing wrong with reading Real Simple magazine, I think. ;)
Have you heard of Happy Rambles? I use it every day: it sends you an email and you reply back with a few things you're grateful for every day, and then it keeps this lovely happiness and gratefulness journal for you.
