This got off to a slow start-- I am not the biggest fan of endless descriptions of furniture and clothing, which is typical of Jane Austeny types of books, but doesn't seem very fitting for a book set in a conflict ridden Balkan country. Once the author strays from what the characters are wearing and eating and goes into the action, I found myself much more involved.
This book made me paranoid that every time I heard someone cough it was a sign of tuberculosis.

Read this earlier this summer for book club, and fell in love with it. Not sure why, but something about the magical realism made me entranced.
