With the risk of sounding like an iVillage article, how do you guys pamper yourself? Seriously, I was reading an assignment for The Artists Way, which had you do something nice for yourself every day for a week, and I was at a loss.
I mean, I know the typical stuff--buy yourself flowers, give yourself a manicure, take a yoga class. But these things take time! And effort! When the flowers die, who's the one that has to ask their boyfriend to clean it up??? Ugh!
So I made a quick list of things that I would consider ways to treat myself.
-Buy a nice bottle of wine (not too nice cus I'm cheap! Even to myself!)
-Watch a fun movie on Netflix. Or watch a guilty pleasure like Kell on Earth and secretly take pleasure in messing up your boyfriend's netflix viewing algorithm.
-Walk over to Williamsburg Park and look at the water
-Take myself out to dinner.
And then I thought--SNOOZE. This is not treating myself. This is stuff that I would do on any weekend. So what do you do to make these moments feel like they are gifts?
Maybe I could buy a ticket to a Broadway play or a dance show
Maybe go to a wine tasting
Maybe take the ferry to Sandy Hook beach in NJ and walk around (although prob not a great idea now that it's fall).
What do you guys think? Do you have any fun things you like to do to treat yourself after a particularly trying day?? Should we just take a cue from Tom Haverford and Donna? Fine. Leather. Goods.
